Every Problem Has a Solution — But What Would You Do in This Impossible Situation?
Chapter 1

A simple illustration has been challenging people across the internet for years, generating heated debates, countless theories, and surprisingly creative answers. At first glance, the image appears straightforward: a man hangs desperately from a tree branch over a river. Below him, two hungry crocodiles wait in the water. On the riverbank sits a lion, ready to attack if he reaches land. Above him, a snake coils around the branch, creating yet another deadly threat.

To make matters worse, an axe lies near the base of the tree, seemingly out of reach.

The caption accompanying the image asks a simple question:

“Every problem has a solution. Now what is the solution for this?”

The challenge has fascinated people because it forces viewers to think beyond instinctive reactions. Most people immediately search for a direct escape route. Can the man climb higher? Can he jump into the water? Can he somehow reach the axe?

Yet every obvious option appears blocked.

Jumping into the river would place him directly in the path of the crocodiles. Climbing toward the trunk risks encountering the snake. Dropping to the ground could bring him face-to-face with the lion. Remaining on the branch indefinitely is impossible because exhaustion will eventually force him to let go.

This is what makes the puzzle so compelling. It creates the illusion that every path leads to disaster.

Psychologists often use similar puzzles to demonstrate how humans react under pressure. When confronted with multiple threats simultaneously, many people focus so intensely on immediate dangers that they overlook alternative possibilities.

The image is not really about survival. It is about problem-solving.
