Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor arrested on his birthday in dramatic police raid

Prince Andrew, born Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, according to multiple British media reports. The development has drawn widespread attention due to his high public profile and past controversies.

Police officers arrived at his residence, Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate, at around 8 a.m. local time. The reported arrest took place on his 66th birthday, adding further public focus to the situation.

Witnesses said at least six unmarked vehicles carrying plainclothes officers entered the property. Reports described officers equipped with laptops and investigative materials as they moved through the five-bedroom farmhouse.

BBC was the first to report the arrest. According to coverage, one vehicle approached the front entrance while others accessed the property through a rear route as part of the coordinated police operation.

Thames Valley Police later confirmed that an arrest had been made. Authorities stated that the action followed an assessment that led investigators to open a formal inquiry into allegations of misconduct in public office.

The arrest marks a significant moment for Andrew, who has faced years of scrutiny related to his past association with Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing connected to those allegations.

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said investigators are working to protect the integrity and objectivity of the case. He noted the strong public interest and stated that updates would be provided when appropriate.

Andrew had been staying at Wood Farm for several weeks after leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor. Police also carried out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk, indicating the investigation extends beyond a single location.
