Doctors reveal that eating walnuts causes

Doctors say walnuts offer many health benefits when eaten in moderation, but also come with a few precautions. They are nutrient-rich and considered one of the healthiest nuts for overall well-being.

A key component is alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 that supports heart and brain health. Walnuts also contain healthy fats that improve cholesterol by lowering LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and promoting better blood vessel function, making them ideal for heart-friendly diets.

They also boost brain function thanks to omega-3s, antioxidants, and essential nutrients. Regular intake is linked to better cognitive performance and may slow age-related decline. Their antioxidants, especially polyphenols, help reduce inflammation and oxidative stress in the body.

Walnuts can help control appetite due to their protein and fiber, supporting blood sugar balance and potentially aiding weight management. They also contain melatonin, magnesium, and tryptophan, which may improve sleep when eaten in small amounts.

However, walnuts are calorie-dense—about 180–200 calories per ounce—so overeating can lead to weight gain. They are also a common allergen and may cause digestive discomfort if consumed excessively. Overall, walnuts are highly beneficial when eaten in controlled portions and with awareness of individual tolerance.
