I found this tiny white stick in my son’s room and was too embarrassed to ask him does anyone know what it is?

A parent recently found a small white device in her 16-year-old son’s room and had no idea what it was. At first, it looked like a USB stick, charger part, or some kind of electronic gadget. It had no plug, button, or charging port, while the top contained several tiny holes. Unsure and embarrassed to ask, the parent took a photo and searched for answers.

The mystery was eventually solved: it appears to be a Vicks nasal inhaler, also known as a VapoInhaler. “So no, it is not a USB drive. It is not a vape. It is not a charger.” Instead, it is a small product designed to provide a strong menthol-like vapor sensation when someone has a stuffy or irritated nose.

Inside the plastic tube is typically an absorbent wick containing strong-smelling vapors, often including menthol and camphor. The tiny holes allow the scent to pass through when someone breathes in. These inhalers are commonly carried in bags, cars, pockets, or bedside drawers, especially during cold and allergy season.

These products can be ordinary household items, but the label should always be checked because different versions have different ingredients and age recommendations. They should be used only as directed, kept closed when not in use, and never swallowed or taken apart. Sharing them is also best avoided.

Without its packaging, the little stick can easily look suspicious or mysterious. But “It is a nasal inhaler stick.” The discovery may seem embarrassing at first, yet there is usually nothing unusual about finding one in a bedroom or bag. What looked like a secret gadget turned out to be a simple pocket-sized aid for a stuffy nose.
