The unusual texture, often called \u201cwoody breast\u201d or \u201cspaghetti meat,\u201d is linked to fast-growing chickens bred for production. Dr. Massimiliano Petracci said, \u201cThere is proof that these abnormalities are associated with fast-growing birds,\u201d explaining it is not artificial meat but a result of rapid growth in poultry farming.<\/p>\n
Chicken production has changed dramatically over time. In 2023, chickens reached market weight in about 47 days at over 5 pounds, compared to 1925 when it took 112 days to reach 2.5 pounds.<\/p>\n
