Speaking at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Douglas explained that stepping back was a deliberate choice. \u201c**I\u2019d been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set,**\u201d he said. While he insists he is not officially retired, he added, \u201c**I\u2019m very happy with taking the time off.
